22 Cog Railway - No. 10 Engine: Kro Flite

The Mount Washington Cog Railway, Bretton Woods, New Hampshire
Fall around Mt Washington and the Cog Railway. #10 Kro Flite built in 1972 by the Mt. Washington Cog Railway. Uses a larger, welded boiler built by Monroe Boiler. Has the cab tilted on the same plane as the boiler. Converted to burn oil for a short time and converted back to coal. www.cog-railway.com/03alltime.htm The Cog Railway currently has a fleet of seven steam locomotives. All of these locomotives have been rebuilt at the Cog Railway shops in recent years. They are all of 0-4-0 configuration and have 2 pairs of cylinders developing about 400 horsepower. With a 5 1/3 to 1 gear reduction and four cylinders, they sound like they are going much faster than the 4 miles per hour they travel. While they all are of similar construction, each engine is unique. www.cog-railway.com/piclococur.htm locator: _GAC0219 image by Photo George copyright ©2006 GCheatle all rights reserved
